Egadi Energy Plan
ESCAPE aims to develop the Clean Energy Transition Agenda (CETA) of the Egadi Archipelago (Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo) in Sicily, taking into account the presence of a large marine protected area and the high tourist vocation of the area.
Starting from a careful analysis of the island’s energy systems, it aims to identify ambitious and realistic decarbonisation targets. The working group is also employing spatial planning techniques to analyze the territory of the island, with the aim of ensuring proper integration of renewable energy production facilities with the landscape and ecosystem of the island.
To do this, ESCAPE aim to pursue a high level of sustainability in the energy supply Egadi Archipelago through the following lines of action:
• The promotion of energy efficiency actions, including the repowering and revamping of existing RES plants, as well as through the enhancement of Marine Sources.
• The establishment of a widespread system of Renewable Energy Communities.
• The diffusion of sustainable mobility systems.
